The challenge

Leadership capacity for significant growth

Vanderlande needed to prepare frontline and first-time leaders for growth in the Indian subcontinent. The programme needed to retain the quality of its Dutch leadership programme, reflect the organisation's values and build on Insights Discovery, while supporting working across cultures.

The approach

Designed with the people around the leaders

Peter partnered with HR and L&D colleagues in the Netherlands and India, sponsoring managers, and Insights Discovery teams globally and in India to design, refine and deliver the journey.

Between sessions

Learning in Action

Four-question Learning in Action questionnaires asked participants to capture what they had tried, what they had done differently and the outcomes they noticed. The gaps between blocks created time to put learning to work.

After the final block

Bring participants and managers together

A Learning in Action Huddle brought two cohorts and their sponsoring managers together. Participants shared their learning and changes in practice; managers could corroborate and add to the development they had seen.

Evidence of application

Participants' accounts, strengthened by managers' observations

The questionnaires captured examples of application, while the final huddle enabled managers to corroborate participants' development. This provided evidence of learning moving into practice beyond attendance or satisfaction alone.
